Busted Matt's terror as mum suffers stroke
MATT JAY has been left devastated after seeing his mother suffer a stroke.
The BUSTED star has kept a bedside vigil since Linda, 44, fell ill.
She was with Matt on a break in Wales when she collapsed at the weekend.
The terrified singer rushed her to hospital then cancelled his engagements to remain with her.
A friend said: “Matt is so shaken up by what happened — it was such a shock.
“He had a few days off so he took Linda to Wales for a treat — he thinks the world of her and wanted them to spend some quality time together.
“The collapse came completely out of the blue.
“Matt rushed her to the nearest hospital where he was told she had suffered a stroke. She is now recovering back at her home in Surrey and Matt has been by her side since it happened.
“But he has to leave for America today to start filming for an MTV reality show.
“His mum’s more important than any TV deal but he has been reassured by doctors that Linda will be OK.
“Family and friends will also be on hand to look after her.”
Matt, whose No1 hits include Thunderbirds/3am and Crashed The Wedding, will jet off to the US today with bandmates JAMES BOURNE and CHARLIE SIMPSON for three-and-a-half weeks.
This is not the first time Matt has suffered family heartache.
Last year his schizophrenic uncle Nigel was found dead in a caravan he had been squatting in after lying there for eight weeks.
Since Busted’s breakthrough hit What I Go To School For two years ago, Matt has used his new-found wealth to help his family.
He spent his first pay cheque on a new wheelchair for sister Amanda, who has cerebral palsy, and a car so she can be driven around.
I hope Matt’s exploits in America help to take his mind off troubles at home.
Last month I revealed Busted, who have had four UK No1s, had signed up to star in an OSBOURNES-style show to be aired around the world.
The series will show how the boys get on trying to crack America — and could make them household names in the States.
